After having a really fun time with my Suicide Squad 2 post, I thought I'd start making this a thing, so here's my new segment called "What I Want to See In..." where I'll give my thoughts on movies that are far enough away that I can think of my own story details and stuff like that!
So since Warner Brothers announced today that Man of Steel 2 is actively in development, I thought I'd give some of my ideas to what I'd like to see in the sequel of one of my favorite films of all time!
Now the first thing I'd like to talk about is the tone. Now the source that broke this story said, "Superman is a top priority for the studio and getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance." After looking over this quote, it's clear that DC wants to give us the lighter Superman that the fans want, which I believe to be totally appropriate. This now leads to what the title should be.
I believe the title of the movie should be Superman: Rebirth, I mean, it's so perfect! It makes sense with the sort of rebirth starting with Wonder Woman in the DCEU now with Geoff Johns in charge. Plus it works with the rebirth of Superman himself in Justice League. Superman's rebirth in Justice League is a perfect explanation/excuse for him being a more classic Superman in the future.
Next I'd like to talk about the villains, the villains I'd like to see are either Brainiac, Metallo, or Bizarro. Now the more I think about it, the less I'd like to see Bizarro because we kinda got something similar to him with Doomsday in BvS. But as for Brainiac, I think it would be great to have another Kryptonian-related villain because those were some of the best parts in MOS for me. They could somehow tie in that Brainiac was one of those robots on Krypton that malfunctioned or something like that. I don't have much to say about Metallo, but he's always interested me, he could be constructed by Lex Luthor, which leads me to my next point.
I do believe that Jesse Eisenberg should return as Lex Luthor in Man of Steel 2. I know that most people didn't like him in BvS (that's an understatement), but I feel like there's promise for him, maybe he could have a rebirth like Superman!
